What Patch 1 added

Together Patch 1 added Text Chat for Realm members. A sent message appears in the chat feed and as a bubble above the character for nearby players. It also added Callouts selected through the Gesture menu; callouts appear as overhead bubbles and in Text Chat.

Realm Diary entries are injected into the chat feed as well. The feed therefore combines player messages, quick tactical information, and notable persistent-world events.

Use Text Chat for durable decisions

Voice is faster in combat, but Text Chat is better for decisions another member may need later:

  • “Do not advance the main quest without the group.”
  • “Torn Sinew is reserved for the Effigy.”
  • “Difficulty changed to Unspoken for tonight.”
  • “Named weapon stored in the shared chest for the Dexterity build.”
  • “Boss route opened; check Realm Diary before continuing.”

Keep messages short and specific. The overhead bubble helps nearby players, while the feed provides context for anyone looking at recent events.

Use Callouts under pressure

Hold the Gesture binding, select the relevant Callout, and release. Patch 1 redesigned the radial selection flow for quick repeated use, and Hotfix 8 added Callout sound effects.

Assign a small group vocabulary:

  • Regroup before a boss or route split.
  • Warn of danger, a trap, or incoming group.
  • Mark a useful drop or interaction.
  • Request help, healing space, or a revive.
  • Confirm readiness.

Do not flood the feed with repeated callouts. One clear request is easier to act on than several overlapping bubbles.

Combat communication rhythm

Before the fight, use text for the plan. During the fight, use a callout or voice for the immediate event. After the fight, use text for loot assignment or progress decisions. This separation keeps the live channel readable.

For a stagger-focused group, one callout can mark the burst window. For a bow or magic player, a regroup call keeps them inside support range rather than retreating beyond the team.

Troubleshooting

  • If a message is missing nearby, check distance and the main chat feed.
  • If the wrong gesture fires, slow the hold-select-release motion and verify bindings.
  • If Diary entries dominate the feed, open the Realm Diary for full context instead of reconstructing progress from bubbles.
  • If text appears in an unexpected language after changing language settings, restart the relevant session; Hotfix 8 fixed earlier messages remaining in the old language.
