Quick route
During Roots That Bind, enter the opening Marin Woods route and activate the nearby blue Whisper before exploring past it. The main path reaches a large organic growth that cannot be removed with ordinary weapon attacks. The Dire Nettle Spores are in the immediate side route around that obstacle.
From the blocked clearing, drop toward the shallow, mossy water on the lower side of the route, move left across the water, and look for climbable vines on the rock wall. Climb to the ledge and collect the glowing pickup. Return to the growth and use the quest interaction to apply the spores and open the path.
Before leaving the Whisper
Activate the Whisper first. The woods contain tougher tracking attacks and the detour includes vertical traversal; the checkpoint prevents a failed attempt from becoming a long run back. Clear nearby enemies before climbing so a projectile or pursuit does not knock you off the route.
If the pickup is not present, confirm that Roots That Bind is active and that another Realm member has not already advanced the shared world state. In a persistent co-op Realm, quest progression can change what remains available in the environment.
What the item record confirms
Build 22928553 contains a Dire Nettle Spores record under the projectile/bomb localization family. Its description calls it a dangerous fungus and does not itself state the route. The step-by-step location above is therefore supported separately by a current 2026 quest guide rather than inferred from the internal category.
That evidence split is intentional: a database record can verify the name and icon, while current route evidence verifies where the player actually finds and uses it.
Common route mistakes
- Hitting the growth repeatedly instead of looking for a quest interaction item.
- Continuing down the main path without checking the lower water route.
- Missing the climbable vines because the camera remains centered on the blockage.
- Leaving the opening Whisper inactive.
- Assuming the item will respawn after another Realm member has completed the step.
After the path opens
Re-check supplies and inventory before continuing deeper into Marin Woods. The spores are a progression solution, not a general damage consumable to build around. If the quest log does not update after the interaction, step away, confirm the shared Realm state, and reopen the current objective before reloading.
